We aim to deliver a high-quality art and design education that engages, inspires and challenges our pupils, providing them with the knowledge and skills to create their own works of art and design.  Pupils will understand the role art and design has in shaping and reflecting our history.  Throughout years three to six, pupils will experience a rich tapestry of art forms including: Drawing, Colour, Texture, Form, Printing, Pattern.

Excellence
Ensure excellence in teaching and learning within a high quality learning environment, through leadership and within all aspects of school life. Celebrate our pupils’ artistic talents and successes through vibrant curriculum opportunities that cover all aspects of artistic scope: Drawing, Colour, Texture, Form, Printing, Pattern.
Encouragement
Create a positive atmosphere where everyone feels happy, safe and valued; where consistent encouragement, praise and effective feedback lead to success and development in artistic talent.
Exploration
Allow children to explore through stimulating learning environments where they encounter challenging
and creative learning experiences. Through study of modern and historic art, and artists, begin to develop a style of art appreciation that impacts on their own development in the subject.

Spirituality in Art & Design

Spirituality features in art and design as it allows children to explore and express their personal beliefs, emotions, and experiences in a creative way. Art and design provides a platform for children to connect with their inner selves and develop a sense of empathy and compassion towards others. It allows children to contemplate the deeper questions of life such as the meaning of existence, identity, and morality, and encourages them to develop their own unique perspective in their work.

Spirituality in art and design can be found in our curriculum through various forms, such as using symbolism or metaphors to represent spiritual beliefs or emotions, exploring the beauty and wonders of nature, or creating artwork that promotes a sense of unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence. Through art and design, pupils can develop and strengthen their spirituality, leading to greater self-awareness, emotional maturity, and personal growth.
